SOUNDINDX RELEASE NOTES
The app's Check for Updates always fetches the newest build.
Updates are free for licensed users and trials alike.
Channel EQ, Smart Snap, composition fades, Automation lanesLatest
Build 20261002-4fad63f · 2 Oct 2026
- Channel EQ. The EQ chip opens a panel docked under
the waveform: Lo-Cut, four bands and Hi-Cut on one curve. Drag a
point for frequency and gain, scroll for Q, ⌥-click to bypass a
band, double-click to reset it. A live analyzer shows what is
playing, and the same EQ is rendered into every export.
- Smart Snap. Selection handles snap to the nearest
transient or zero crossing as you drop them. Right-click the button
for the mode and for sensitivity — Hard goes for kicks and snares,
Soft catches the quiet onsets too.
- Fade the whole composition. Right-click the export
card for Fade in composition / Fade out composition:
the fade is applied to the finished result — five loop cycles get one
fade in at the very start and one fade out at the very end. Exact
times live in Settings › Export.
- One export card. The in-app card is now exactly the
menu-bar card: same render, same right-click menu. The menu-bar card
stays the default; show the in-app one from Settings if you want your
menu bar back.
- Automation with lanes. Volume Automation is now
Automation: right-click to pick the Volume or FX lane and
draw on the waveform. Curve mode bends a segment between two points,
and points can be added right on a bend. On the FX lane, drag the
flat line to set the overall effect level.
- FX and Key Match in the transport. One FX button:
click for the effect at full wet, right-click for the FX Slot. Key
Match listens and sets the pitch for you once the key is stable.
- The selection stands out. A selected range gets a
frame and everything outside it dims, so what you are working on is
always the brightest thing on screen.
- Reverse Loop and Loop Cycles combine; arrow-key browsing keeps the
selected row centred; Daylight got a redesigned waveform, list and
active-tool state; FX tail in export moved to Settings ›
Export; Clip Selected Area keeps the loop inside the clip. The
two-file Lead-in + loop option was removed from the card
menu.

Lead-in loops, auto-advance, Open Session
Build 20260903-9a8eb7b · 3 Sep 2026
- Lead-in + loop, as two files. Turn it on from the
menu-bar card's right-click menu: dragging a loop then delivers a
lead-in (the audio before the loop, sample-exact up to the loop
point) alongside the seamless loop. In QLab: a lead-in cue,
auto-follow, then the looping cue — a natural start and a
gapless loop, with no editing afterwards.
- Auto-advance. When a sound finishes, play the next
one in the list — for fast browsing. Off by default (Settings ›
Playback), so nothing ever advances on its own during a show.
- Open Session… in the start window. Open a saved
session straight from launch, including one from another machine —
no need to hunt through Recents.
- Arrow-key browsing keeps the list scrolled to the playing row;
the License page now shows the version and a Contact Support button
with your build details pre-filled.

Recent clips, Tip box, Reverse fixes
Build 20260824-c30bca4 · 24 Aug 2026
- Recent clips in the menu bar. Right-click the card
for the last five rendered clips — pick one and the next drag
carries it again with no re-render. In tech, the same clip is
needed twice more often than not.
- Tip box. A small Quick Help panel in the sidebar
corner explains whatever tool the cursor is on. QUICK shows the
essence, ADVANCED the full story; ✕ turns it off for good
(Settings › General brings it back). Nothing ever pops up over
the waveform.
- Reverse works with exports again. While a plain
Reverse was applied, the menu bar card silently refused to render —
fixed. The Reverse button now also moves the flip to a new
selection instead of just switching off.
- Trial status is a dismissable card instead of a fixed pill;
⌃-click opens the card menu like a right-click; Daylight got a
clearly visible active-tool state and its glass back.

Three themes, export format, 14-day trial
Build 20260823-fb927b7 · 23 Aug 2026
- Themes are now Booth, Studio and Daylight. Daylight is
redesigned: warm paper chrome, a solid blue waveform drawn one bar per
pixel, and a clear blue glass state on active tools. Studio gained
layer separation; Booth keeps its calibrated look with a solid
lavender waveform. Waveform resolution tripled — zoom now reveals
real detail.
- First-use tips. Short one-time hints the first time
you use each tool — dismiss one, turn them all off, or bring them
back from Settings › General.
- Export format. Settings › Export chooses 24-bit PCM
(default) or 32-bit float, sample rate as source or fixed, and the
file-name style ("Rain — 12.2s–24.8s", "Rain — loop ×3", or the
original name). Exports carry a bext note of what was done.
- Menu bar card: steady width while rendering, and a
right-click menu with Copy to clipboard and export settings.
- Trial is now 14 days (trials started earlier keep 30). The trial pill
in the top bar shows days left; Settings › License shows how many of
your 3 Macs are active.
- Search: Esc clears, ⌘F focuses. I / O set the selection at the
playhead. Mono/stereo shown next to the format. File › Add Folder to
Library (⇧⌘O). Settings › Audio shows the device sample rate.
Reverse Loop seams, Loop Match for Reverse Loop, Loop Cycles rework
Build 20260823-fa7ff1f · 23 Aug 2026
- Reverse Loop no longer clicks. The preview file had
edge fades at every lap; they are gone, and the turnarounds are now
placed on waveform peaks where the reversal is smooth — most audible
on low material.
- Loop Match works with Reverse Loop. The turnaround
becomes a crossfade built from the audio beyond the boundary, the
blue handle sets its length, and export renders exactly what you
hear. Selectors never move.
- Loop Cycles is now simply a loop with a count. Same
arming, same seam, same Loop Match as Loop; works with Reverse Loop.
After the N-th cycle playback stops at the end of the region and the
next Play starts from the region again. The count is the CYCLES chip
next to PITCH/GAIN — drag or scroll, double-click for 2. Composition
export ends with the last cycle.
- New icons: Loop Cycles shows the count at the arrow tip; Reverse Loop
is a clear half-circle with arrows at both ends.
Loop Cycles, dark menu bar card, new loop icons
Build 20260823-9e8c493 · 23 Aug 2026
- Loop Cycles replaces Vamp Loop: the selection plays
N times, then stops. Set the count with the CYCLES chip next to
PITCH/GAIN (drag or scroll, double-click for 2). Export renders exactly
N seamless cycles as one file, with Fade in/out on the whole clip —
ten cycles of rain that starts and ends softly, ready for QLab.
- Menu bar card is now always dark with the SOUNDINDX
mark integrated at the left edge; its bars react to the level.
- Loop family icons: Loop is a ring arrow, Reverse Loop
two opposing half-circles, Loop Cycles a ring with the count. Shuffle
has a standard shuffle icon. Default button order puts the loop tools
right after the six main buttons (custom orders are kept).
- Search field aligned with the track list; FX Automation ⌥-shortcut
removed; the in-app export card is off by default (Settings › Export).
Menu bar export, FX Slot presets, editable descriptions
Build 20260823-2a757c5 · 23 Aug 2026
- Menu bar export is the main way out. The card in the
macOS menu bar renders the finished clip on press and the drag starts
as soon as the file is ready — with the same card travelling under
the cursor. Works when QLab is fullscreen. The in-app export card is
now off by default (Settings › Export).
- FX Slot button in the top bar, left of FX tail: yellow
when the chain is active. Right-click for plugin editors, bypass,
clear chain and chain presets. The chain is global by
default; Save Composition stores it with the track.
- Verified plugins. Plugins that pass SOUNDINDX's test
protocol are marked Verified and listed first; support covers those.
- Edit Description from the row menu or Get Info — WAV
files keep it inside the file (BWF), everything is searchable at once.
- Settings reorganised into pages with a short
explanation on every setting.
- Search field now lines up with the file list. Transport and loop
fixes from the theatre test week.
- Soundstack is not part of this release — it is being redesigned and
returns in a later update.
All Files covers everything, adaptive click protection
Build 20260822-81334b0 · 22 Aug 2026
- All Files now really means all: project folders and
Soundstacks are part of the library view — searchable, sortable,
and included in Duplicates. A Soundstack row opens the stack.
- Click protection adapts to your audio interface: the
transport fade now scales with the device buffer size, so stop,
playhead jumps and handle moves stay click-free on interfaces with
large buffers — verified at sample level with a 2048-frame
buffer.
- Fixed: selecting Duplicates in the sidebar could not be cleared by
clicking All Files directly.
Loop Match handles, menu bar drag & click-free transport
Build 20260821-b6892db · 21 Aug 2026
- Drag export from the menu bar: the export card lives in
the macOS menu bar too — drag the current result into any app, even
when SOUNDINDX isn't frontmost (QLab in fullscreen, for instance).
The card's logo pulses with the playing audio.
- Loop Match refined: pressing Loop Match switches Loop
on by itself; the seam draws only inside the selection; the seam's
moving edge carries a blue handle and a second handle waits at the
opposite end for switching sides directly. Blue resize cursor over
the handles.
- Click-free transport: stop, playhead jumps and handle
moves now fade instead of clicking — verified at sample level with a
new measurement harness. Click protection: Transport is now
0–200 ms (default 128 ms).
- Keep tools active across tracks (Settings): Loop,
Loop Match, Reverse and Vamp stay on while browsing sounds.
- FX tail is now its own toolbar switch (top right) —
independent of the export card, which can be hidden when the menu
bar card does the job. The menu bar card's right-click menu can
toggle it too.
- Fixed: a hidden Loop Match state could survive a track change and
process "plain" loops invisibly; a race between plugin buffer reset
and the audio thread could crash with third-party effects on track
change.
Security hardening
Build 20260818-14d77bb · 18 Aug 2026
- The app's embedded browser view is now locked to bundled content only.
- License file permissions tightened on disk.
- Internal cleanup after a full code review.
Soundstack tools & polish round
Build 20260818-7d897c1 · 18 Aug 2026
- Soundstack: per-block mute, solo, gain and pan, track names
and colors, snap, arrow-key nudge, Fit view and a timecode readout.
- Type to jump in the sound list — start typing a name, the list follows.
Tool shortcuts moved to shift-combinations (see the cheat sheet).
- Shift-click range selection with bulk delete; new Duplicates view with
⧉ badges on duplicate rows.
- Always-visible draggable scrollbar; stronger export card with the FX tail
toggle inside it; exports named "Sound — loop.wav".
- Retuned Light theme; smoother seeking while playing (no more clicks).
Loop Match, both directions
Build 20260818-85540cc · 18 Aug 2026
- Loop Match can now borrow seam material from either side:
drag the blue handle right to borrow from after the selection. Clip length
stays exact to the sample.
- Arming Loop Match sets a sensible seam automatically — adjustable
"Match seam" percentage in Settings. On a whole track the loop starts
from the very first sample.
- Column filters, multi-select, Get Info level readouts, crash recovery
and a refreshed bilingual guide.
Purchase & licensing
Build 20260817-04aadc7 · 17 Aug 2026
- Buy button in the app and full license flow: activate, validate and
deactivate seats (3 Macs per license) with clear English messaging.
- Deactivating a seat now frees it immediately — no restart needed.
- Checkout via Lemon Squeezy with VAT handled at purchase.
Key Match & finishing round
Build 20260817-7284cf6 · 17 Aug 2026
- Key Match: detect the key of what's playing — through the
microphone, system audio (macOS 14.2+) or a reference file — and pitch
the loaded sound to fit.
- Full macOS menu bar, About window, Open Recent, window position memory,
keyboard shortcut cheat sheet (see Help menu).
- Clearer error messages for missing folders, unreadable files and
misbehaving Audio Unit plugins.
- Split View performance fix — large comparison panels no longer stutter.
- Refreshed startup screen; tooltips show live keyboard shortcuts.
First public build
Build 20260811 · 11 Aug 2026
- Library browsing and instant search over local sound folders.
- Waveform editor: trim, selections, loops (Loop Match, Mirror Loop),
fades and volume automation.
- Soundstack multitrack layering with per-track curves and bounce.
- Audio Unit FX chain, pitch shift, EQ and gain with offline render on export.
- Drag-out export to QLab, DAWs and Finder; projects and sessions.
